1. Fill a basin with cool water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Submerge the shorts and gently agitate the water to loosen any dirt. If hand washing isn't possible, use a mesh laundry bag. Set the washing machine to a gentle cycle with cool water.
2. Use a mild, bleach-free detergent. Avoid fabric softeners or bleach, as they can break down the fibers.
3. Rinse thoroughly in cool water to remove all detergent.
4. Lay the shorts flat on a clean towel or hang them to dry away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not use a dryer, as the heat can damage the elasticity of the spandex. Do not iron, as the heat can damage the fabric.
5. Store the shorts flat or folded to prevent stretching. Avoid hanging them for long periods. Avoid contact with rough surfaces that can cause snagging or pilling.
